Domain names...

Domain names are easy web-names to remember... which YOU own (well, rent)... and you can POINT them to the REAL web-address of websites.

Example:   Our REAL website for the Unleavened Bread Cafe is (really) http://ubbloggin.blogspot.com.  That is, that's where we're REALLY posting info onto a web-server (web-host).  But because that's unhandy to remember and spell... we bought (well, rented) a domain-name called UBcafe.com... which we now promote.  Click it and you'll see that it REALLY goes to the blogspot address above.  Right?  So bottom line... we just bought (well, rented) a SHORTCUT to go to where we wanted it to go.  Ok?

Soon... to help explain this... we'll link to my infamous A Drawing Of The Internet.  You'll then see it shows how the internet doesn't let you surf DIRECTLY to a website, but rather, it REALLY goes to an INDEX first, and THEN goes to the right place where your website (really) exists.  (Think about a phone directory... which allows MULTIPLE LISTINGS for any ONE phone number.  And in fact, truth be known, a web-address REALLY is a NUMBER... an IP number... but let's not go there just yet.  LOL).

How do you buy (well, rent) an easy domain-name?

  • See Godaddy.com -- appx $9/year.
  • Once I buy (well, rent) it... can I point it anywhere I want?  YES !
  • So if I wanted to create a FREE website at blogspot.com, I could... right?  YES.
  • And only buy (well, rent) an easy domain-name to remember... I could point it at my free site, right?  YES !

Or here's an innovative new Christian site... LOANING domain-names!  Visit MinistryPool.com.
