Overview: Our purpose on this wiki-page is to start compiling information which will help connect people meeting food needs here in our metro area... and by then working together in some practical ways, do a better job at what we all hope to accomplish in our community. Anyone and everyone can get involved here. Share best-in-class resources & ideas.

Page Index:

  • Quick Links to Food Help ASAP !
  • Compilation of other links that may be helpful in resolving as much of the food-issue as we possibly can.

    • Mid-North Food Pantry (Dave Voelker is involved on the board there)
  • Here's the original WYNS link to some GREAT RESOURCES
  • Gleaners... provides food ($0.14/pound) to such ministries.
  • In Hamilton County... Click to Good Samaritan Network.
  • National Christian Outreach -- The facility is The Compassion Center at 2616 S. Shelby St in Indianapolis. We are open seven days per week and 365 days per year. We require nothing more than a hungry person wanting to eat. We feed between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm daily. We have no employees operating only with volunteers and community service workers. There is never any charge to anybody.
  • Idea: Churches that don't actually HAVE a food pantry, help support those that do. Eg... MissionaryConnections / NewWineskinMinistries (Lafayette Square area).
  • Food issue is not independent of other needs... such as Transportation (or bus-tickets, etc).
  • Also need more Christians to help re presenting the gospel. [It's hard to hear the gospel when your belly is grumbling... so we need to connect such ministries to be more effective TOGETHER than separately.]
  • Per NonProfit News... "Covenant Foods will open its doors to help feed the needy.  The food pantry inside Northside Baptist Church, 3021 E. 71st St., will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. each Tuesday.  Clients may visit once a month."
