LOLLLLL....  and other web abbreviations & email etiquette.

 

 

You're in the digital world now... and it's an English teacher's purgatory.  The digital culture takes all sorts of shortcuts as they express themselves.  Partly that's because they're 'texting' via their cell-phones (and it's a tiny keypad and hard to write much)... But mostly it's because we tend to try to reflect EMOTION in our emails.  Thus we call these expressions... EMOTICONS.

 

LOL = Laughing Out Loud

LOLLLLL = Laughing Out Loud a LOTTTTTT.

 

(where's a good link to a page full of emoticons and web-etiquette???)

 

such as...

  • Don't type in ALL CAPS.  People think you're 'SHOUTING'.
