'MyChurch'... Social Networking...

There's a great new social networking site called MyChurch.org.  I like to think of it as 'MySpace on a Mission'.

Why is this an important capability to learn?

  • It connects people... especially INNOVATIVE people.  The more innovative people who get connected... the easier, bettter, faster we all learn from each other.
  • It especially connects CHURCH people.  The more innovative CHURCH people we get connected... the easier, better, faster we'll all IMPACT our communities... TOGETHER.
  • Besides... there are some neat folks there who can help us with our Ask Anything Saturday  'Internet Tool Kit'... and our CityReaching.org wiki.
  • And MyChurch.org is already equipped with some great tech components... notably... blogs... RSS... photos... etc.
  • More about why MyChurch is important to YOUR church... [Founder Joe Suh's vision for it.]  [And here's a Commentary by Neil Cox.]

Ok, here's what you need to know how to do there...

  • First, read their short list of FAQ's.
  • Get your own personal (free) account-ID there.
  • 'Join' your specific church there.  [The MyChurch staff has already got a ton of churches listed there.... hopefully including YOURS.  But if not, see the FAQ page above, which tells you how to submit your church to be added there soon.  Then later, you can 'join' it.
  • After 'joining' your church there, you may want to request to be your church's 'moderator'.  And if so, they'll simply check with your pastor via email to ensure that's ok.  Nice idea huh?
