Learning to SEARCH the net...
[Remember: If you already know the web-address (URL) of a particular site... say UBcafe.com... you DON'T have to 'search' for it. In that case, just type UBcafe.com into the address block and hit 'enter'. No searching is needed.]
Plugin error: googlegadget (Plugin not found ../common/plugins/googlegadget.inc)
- But when you don't know the web-address of something you'd like to find... then you SEARCH. Here's how...
- Example: You wish you could find the website of the Unleavened Bread Cafe. (assuming you don't know that it's UBcafe.com)
- Many browsers now have a SEARCH-block built into them. So just type some key words into that SEARCH-block.... such as 'unleavened' 'bread' 'cafe'..... and hit ENTER. Immediately your browser will show a long list of websites that mention the words 'unleavened' 'bread' and 'cafe'. Hopefully, one of those items -- hopefully near the top of the list -- will show you that UBcafe.com is the one you were looking for.
-
- If your browser doesn't have a SEARCH-block built into it, then you'll have to surf to a search-engine website... such as Google.com. Or Yahoo.com. Or GoodSearch.com. Then use their search-block to find the website(s) you're looking for.
Learning to search WELL will save you a lot of time & effort.
- Illustration... You could walk into a (physical) libary and start looking around... but it'd take you forever to find what you really came for. So it's much better to take a little extra time to learn the BEST ways to find things you really want to find... quickly & easily. We'll compile some tips & tricks below...
- Search for the PHRASE... using double-quotes symbols. If you type your keywords within a pair of double-quotes.... "unleavened bread cafe"... the search will look for that PHRASE instead of just looking for those separate words. Thus you'll be way more likely to set your preferred answer near the top of the search-results list. Make sense?
- At Google, you can also search for IMAGES. Or NEWS. Or VIDEOS. Go try it.
- Later, you'll learn about RSS Feeds and how they help bring stuff to YOU, instead of you having to go find IT. Combined with Google-search capabilities, you can have certain NEWS (for instance) come directly to your RSS-reader from some search-string of your choice. Eg... I have all news about 'indianapolis' and 'christians' come to me directly, from Google News. Pretty cool.

Hey here's something we all should absolutely consider doing, and encouraging others to do... Use GoodSearch on behalf of Victory Village Shoppe (who turned us onto this). In a couple of clicks, you can add GoodSearch to your browser's available Search engines... even set it as your default search-block... and over time, generate significant cash for VVS. I've tried it out and it works great.
